Two men from Balti city came to the attention of the North General Territorial Directorate of the NAC and the anticorruption prosecutors, after requesting and receiving 850 euros from a person for the the issue of a driving license.
According to the denouncer, at the beginning of January 2019, the suspects have claimed the money under the pretext that they could influence the members of the Examination Board within the Transport Registry and Driving License Division of Balti to successfully organize the passing of the exams and the issue of the driving license, category D, E.
On the alleged offenses, the NAC started prosecution under influence peddling.
At the moment, the suspects are detained for 72 hours. A criminal case was opened on their behalf under Article 326 (2) of Criminal Code, and if found guilty, they risks up to six years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 10,000 conventional units.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office is carrying out the criminal proceedings.
Any person shall be presumed innocent until the final and irrevocable judgement is delivered.
