Corruption crimes and those connected to them also occur in the field of illicit drug trafficking. Out of 21 criminal cases investigated by the criminal investigative body of the National Anticorruption Center and Anticorruption Prosecution Office 7 were initiated for passive corruption against employees of the MIA, 5 for influence peddling against the persons who intervened with the same goal and for active corruption against the employees of the National Patrol Inspectorate from drivers who were suspected of drug driving. Another 7 cases were aimed at documenting illegal drug transfer activities in prisons, issuing permits for drug activities and drug theft as a criminal offense from criminal cases initiated. These are some of the findings of the strategic analysis carried out by the Analytical Directorate of the NAC.
The carrying out the strategic analysis regarding some corruption vulnerabilities identified in promoting state policies on the circulation of narcotic drugs aimed to establish the undertaken measures in the field of reference, their goals and achievements. During the study, the NAC officers have drawn conclusions, as well as recommendations for responsible institutions.
According to the authors, the formulated statements in the study aimed at finding uncertain aspects in meeting the proposed objectives at the level of the National Anti-drug Strategy, the involved entities and/or the addressed actions, as well as identification of the risks of vicious activities to eliminate them in the future.
