A corruption scheme, implemented by several officials at the Ghidighici Town Hall, as well as other authorities, was revealed by the NAC and anticorruption prosecutors. 23 searches were carries out this morning in offices and domiciles of eight suspects, that are to be escorted to the NAC.
The officers are investigating this scheme within 38 criminal cases, connected in a procedure, and the main extras are suspected of corruption acts, manifested by the legalization, in exchange for money, of some constructions within the commune Ghidighici. According to evidence collected, the chief architect allegedly was the person who managed this network, that consists of officials from other authorities and, in exchange for illicit remunerations, would have ensured the issuance of acts allowing construction or final acceptance of works, for release and speeding up urbanism certificates, building permits, as well as for the distribution of some land or changing its status.
As it derives from the case materials, the chief architect would have claimed money for his services, stating that he would have influence on the members of the Commission for Urbanism and Rural Development and on the local counselors. Meanwhile, in the process of preparing the set of documents, site managers, designers, technical managers, employees of OCT Chisinau, but also economic agents were allegedly involved. Thus, the mission of the investigators and prosecutors, who carried out searches this morning, is to find additional evidence in investigated cases and to identify other members of the scheme.
At this time, four persons were escorted to the NAC for questioning, they are to be detained for 72 hours. If found guilty, they risk up to 10 years in prison, a criminal fine and the deprivation to hold public office for a certain period of time. We remind, that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.
