The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office and the National Anticorruption Center have announced the detention, today, of a judge from the Chisinau Court for " influence peddling".
The criminal case was initiated by the Prosecutor General, based on information, according to which, the judge allegedly demands money from the head of an economic agent to intervene with other colleagues to adopt a favorable solution in a civil case.
Taking into account the flagrant nature of the actions committed by the judge, the NAC officers and prosecutors proceeded to his pre-trial detention for 72 hours.
At the same time, the prosecutors started a criminal case against the head of the economic agent who allegedly offered a bribe, his actions being investigated under the aspect of the crime of "active corruption."
The criminal investigation is in progress, and the prosecutor's office will return with additional details.
Any person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decidion of the court is pronounced.
