NAC synthesis: Seizures applied to assets worth about 6.5 million lei and detentions in corruption cases
02.09.2024 369 ViewsThe National Anti-corruption Centre has reported the detention of two people last week in corruption cases. In one case, a resident of Balti municipality was detained for 72 hours, being investigated in a case in which he is accused of having promised a candidate to help him obtain a driver's license in exchange for 1000 euros. At the request of the prosecutors, the court decided to place him under house arrest for 30 days. In another case, the NAC caught red-handed the deputy head of a Police Inspectorate. The official is suspected of claiming and receiving 2,500 euros not to examine a material on the fact of committing a voluntary crime.
During the reporting period, the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of t6he NAC seized 7 assets worth about 6.5 million lei, based on a delegation from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (PA). Among them are 2 means of transport, a residential and 2 non-residential rooms, a residential construction, but also a bank account. At the same time, other assets previously seized in the amount of 1.5 million lei were confirmed by court rulings.
Last week, the National Anti-corruption Hotline received 25 calls, 14 anti-corruption expert reports were drawn up, 1107 materials were registered in the NAC’s Chancellery and 91 integrity records were issued.
