04.11.2024 44 ViewsThe National Anti-corruption Centre has reported for the past week several actions in the direction of fighting corruption. More precisely, the NAC carried out 26 searches in Cimișlia, Comrat, Hîncești, Călărași, Străseni, Nisporeni, Criuleni, Florești, Orhei, Ștefan Vodă, Bălți, Anenii Noi, Chişinău and Rezina in several criminal cases based on the fact of electoral corruption, illegal financing of political parties and money laundering committed in the interest of an organized criminal group. According to the data of the criminal investigation, 32 people were documented in the process of corrupting voters for the referendum and the elections that took place on October 20, 2024, the preparation of lists of interested persons, the centralization of information about them, the transmission of their personal data to third parties / financial institutions from outside the Republic of Moldova so that the latter obtain illegal remuneration for exercising the right to vote. At the same time, the NAC applied contravention fines in the amount of over 3.5 million lei for electoral corruption, on the side of the minutes regarding the finding of the contravention provided by art. 47 first Contravention Code - "passive electoral corruption". For committing this contravention, the legislation in force provides for a fine from 25,000 lei to 37,500 lei. At the moment, 2 people are detained in the Detention Centre, 9 people are arrested in the cases started by the NAC, they are placed in penitentiary institutions. During the reference period, criminal investigation officers resolved 10 criminal cases.
The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized assets worth about 6 million lei, last week, based on the delegations of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS). Among them are a housing construction and a housing room, 4 means of transport, 2 agricultural and 2 construction plots, unavailable in a case of money laundering. At the same time, the seizures previously applied by the Agency in the amount of over 8 million lei were confirmed.
In the field of corruption prevention, the Legislation Directorate completed and delivered to the authors 20 expert reports and an opinion on some draft normative acts, last week. The NAC notifies the initiation of 4 operational analyses, the release of 90 integrity records, the reception of 58 calls to the national anti-corruption line and the registration of 2768 materials in the Centre’s Chancellery.
