The CARA of the NAC seized assets of over 6 million lei in the case of a former deputy prosecutor general

number of special investigative measures have been carried out in respect of the suspended former deputy prosecutor general, investigated for illicit enrichment. They are as follows:

- on-site research was carried out at 221 locations (service office, construction, construction land, agricultural land);

- 12 searches were carried out;

- more than 46 seizures of documents, containing 5875 pages, as well as other evidence from public authorities and banking institutions were authorized and carried out;

- 2300 tabs of documents taken from public authorities, as well as video and audio files, were examined;

- 13 special investigative measures were authorized and carried out;

- it was ordered to carry out 4 judicial expertises (technical of electronic devices; evaluation of real estate and technical equipment; graphoscopic of documents), one of which is still in the process of execution;

- the fiscal control of the activity of a peasant household targeted in the criminal investigation was carried out;

- 26 persons were heard as witnesses, whose statements, together with the other evidence administered, come to confirm the accusation;

- 6 persons were recognized and interrogated as accused, for participating as accomplices in the commission of the crime of illicit enrichment;

- more than 20 requests were examined and resolved by the accused and their defenders;

- the seizure of the goods was authorized, in order to ensure a possible special confiscation, whose market value is 6,249,088 lei.

- The financial-parallel investigations ordered by the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency are currently underway;

We would like to point out that criminal investigations in this case are carried out within the limits of criminal procedure law, respecting all the rights and freedoms of data subjects, ensuring the principle of presumption of innocence, confidentiality of prosecution, respect for privacy and personal data.
