1,5 million lei seized by the CARA of the NAC last week. One million of assets, seized in Romania

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) under the NAC seized assets of 1,5 million lei, based on the prosecutor’s delegations last week. One million lei is the estimated value of a half of a company and an apartment, frozen in Romania. The seized assets include constructions, premises, agricultural lands and social capital.

In addition to the criminal assets recovery component, the NAC has carried out activities in other dimensions, such as corruption prevention, analytics, expertise and anti-corruption education. Thus:

·        The Analytical Directorate completed 8 operational analyses regarding 11 subjects, initiated 9 new operational analyses, other 106 operational and strategic analyses are in progress;

·        The Legislation and Anticorruption Expertise Directorate received 23 draft normative acts for expertise, 21 expert reports and 9 opinions were submitted to the authors, 49 projects are in the procedure;

·        1203 materials were registered in the Chancellery of the Center;

·        47 calls were received at the National Anticorruption Hotline;

·       The Anticorruption Education Directorate carried out 4 information and awareness-raising activities regarding the risks and consequences of involvement in acts of corruption in different public entities, other 10 are scheduled for this week. Two Pro-Integrity Quiz games were also organized;

·       144 integrity records were issued;

·       Currently, 2 persons are in the NAC Detention Center.
