A man tried to bribe a border officer with 100 dollars, but was detained by the NAC

A man from Ceadîr-Lunga is criminally investigated by the General Territorial Directorate South of the NAC and anticorruption prosecutors in a case of active corruption. He would have proposed to an investigation officer from the South Regional Directorate of the Border Police 100 dollars not to be sanctioned for the crossing the state border illegally.

In his turn, the border officer notified the GTD South of the NAC about the attempt of being corrupted, denouncing the proposal of the 100 dollars bribe. Everything happened in the office within the headquarters of the General Directorate South of the Border Police, and the money transmission was documented.

The NAC officers were assisted by the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the MIA.

A criminal case was initiated for active corruption, if found guilty, the suspect risks up to 5 years of imprisonment or criminal fine from 1000 to 3000 conventional units. The suspect is being investigated at large.

The criminal investigation is conducted by the South office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.

We remind that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.
