Two patrol officers from Chisinau from the National Public Security Inspectorate are detained by the NAC officers and prosecutors from the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, being suspected of passive corruption. They would have demanded a bribe from a driver not to document an alleged case of drink-driving.
According to the case materials, a few days ago, the driver was stopped by two police officers, who following the blood alcohol test, found that the driver was allegedly drunk. Thus, to register the case in accordance with the legal provisions, the suspects claimed and received 6,000 lei.
To accumulate evidence, searches were carried out in the service car of the NPSI. The cash in the amount of 6,000 lei was seized, previously transmitted under the NAC control. At the same time, other amounts of money were found, namely 6,500 lei and 620 euros, a breathalyzer, some records and mobile phones.
Two police officers were detained for 72 hours and are to be placed in the NAC detention center.
In the investigation of the case, the support was provided by the Internal Protection and Anti-corruption Service of the MIA (IPAS). Currently, criminal prosecution actions are taking place, under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
