The car worth almost half a million lei belonging to a head of department of the Oncological Institute, was taken under the administration by CARA of NAC
22.04.2022 15 ViewsThe CARA of NAC took under the administration the car which belongs to a head of department at the Oncological Institute, after prosecutors ordered the seizure. It is a BMW model car, estimated at 445 thousand lei. The transport unit was arrested within the criminal case started for corruption, in which the doctor is accused of allegedly claiming and receiving from a patient's daughter 50,000 lei to hasten the hospitalization of his mother.
In an informative note, CARA announces that, currently, in the administration of the Agency there are 33 means of transport, in a total value of about 9 million lei, out of which 23 cars, 6 trucks and 4 trailers. Among the most expensive are a "Porsche Cayenne", worth about 1 million lei, a "Mazda CX5" from 2020, an "Audi A6", a "Mercedes GL500", and a "Kia Sorento" - all estimated at the price of about half a million lei each. Most of the goods were made unavailable in criminal cases, started on money laundering and fraud, in order to repair the material damage caused by the crime, to ensure the measure of special confiscation or extended confiscation and to guarantee the execution of the fine.
CARA also notes that, based on the court decisions, The Agency ensured the process of selling two means of transport - a Porsche Cayenne car, manufactured in 2013, sold at a price of 653,903.29 lei and a "Skoda Kodiaq", year of manufacture 2017, sold at the price of 423,225.00 lei. The funds obtained from the capitalization of the mentioned cars were transferred to the treasury accounts, managed by the CARA. The Agency addressed several requests to the criminal prosecution bodies regarding the initiation of capitalization proceedings against other 19 means of transport, seized, both on criminal cases related to bank fraud and other criminal cases.
We mention that among the competencies of CARA is also administrating and estimating the seized criminal assets. The estimation and the transfer of funds into the state custody ensure the preservation of the value of those assets, as well as their integrity, increasing transparency in the process of recovering illicit assets.
