A man from Sangerei was detained for 72 hours by the NAC. He promised to remove a car with foreign registration numbers from the Customs Service register
01.07.2020 14 ViewsA man from Sangerei is being investigated for the influence peddling by the officers of the General Territorial Directorate North and anticorruption prosecutors, being denounced by the owner of a car with foreign registration numbers. He declared that the suspect allegedly promised that he can help him to get rid of the fine and other customs payments for exceeding the stay in the Republic of Moldova of his car with Lithuanian registration numbers.
According to the materials of the case, the suspect promised that he would influence some employees of the Customs Service and that he could determine them delete from the register the information regarding the entry date of the car in the country, and thus, escape the contraventional fine and other taxes. For his services, the suspect allegedly claimed 400 euros, the equivalent of approximately 8000 leis.
A criminal case for influence peddling was initiated. If found guilty, the man risks up to 5 years or imprisonment or a criminal fine. Currently, he is in the NAC custody for 72 hours.
The case is supervised by the office North of the Office of Anticorruption Prosecutor.
