Former police officer accused of favoring obtaining driving licenses
20.12.2013 3217 ViewsA citizen from Chisinau, former policeman, was caught red-handed by NAC officers on suspicion of influence peddling and passive corruption.
He would have claimed and received Euro 400 from the denouncer in order to influence employees of the Section for Evidence and Examination of Drivers to facilitate the pass of theoretical and practical exam
Following the search, the amount of Euro 400 was found in man’s house, along with school certificate, copies of ID cards that had attached amounts of money from Euro 70 to Euro 300.
It is assumed that the money was intended to facilitate issue of driving licenses for various categories.
Former man of law is currently detained for 72 hours at NAC.
If convicted, he faces a fine of 1000 to 3000 conventional units or 2-6 years in prison.
Criminal prosecution is conducted by the Anticorruption Prosecutors’ Office.
