11.09.2019 19 ViewsFour people, including a former police officer and a criminal prosecution officer from the Cahul Police Inspectorate, were detained, a short time ago, by the officers of the Southern Territorial Directorate General of the NAC and the South Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor`s Office. The four are suspected of trying to influence the final decision in a criminal case, started for drug peddling.
In fact, the suspects would have demanded from the complainant 5000 euros, claiming that they would have an influence on the investigator and the prosecutor, who conducts the criminal prosecution, and that he can cause both of them to adopt a favorable solution on the case. Finally, the amount of 5000 euros was reduced to 2000 euros, the money is transmitted in two installments, under the control of the NAC.
Today, the four persons were detained and escorted for hearings at the NAC`s South DGT headquarters. On their behalf, a criminal prosecution for influence peddling has been initiated, and if convicted, they risk fines ranging from 3000 to 4000 conventional units or prison from 2 to 6 years.
Currently, actions are being taken to establish all the circumstances and persons involved.
