A policeman, investigated in several episodes of influence peddling, detained by the NAC and IPAS
03.06.2022 3019 ViewsA senior sub-officer of the Department of the Public Order Insurance of the Center Patrol Directorate of the Internal Protection and Anti-corruption Service (IPAS) of the MIA was detained, today, by the NAC and anti-corruption prosecutors, in a case of influence peddling, that included several episodes. He allegedly promised several people to help obtain driving license.
According to the whistleblower, the policeman allegedly demanded 750 euros, claiming that he had influence on the members of the examination commission of the Office of the Registration of Transport Means and Drivers’ Qualification within the Public Services Agency and that he could support them at passing theoretical and practical tests of the drivers’ qualification, category B. Subsequently, the suspect allegedly accepted in advance 6000 lei, from the demanded amount.
On the denounced acts, the criminal investigation was initiated based on the article 326 of the Criminal Code – influence peddling. The man was detained for 72 hours and escorted to the NAC for hearings.
Also, Internal Protection and Anti-corruption Service of the MIA initiated other three criminal cases on behalf of the suspect, that are connected in a procedure. In these cases, he is suspected of claiming and receiving 2300 euros from other three persons, whom he had also promised to obtain the driving license.
We remind, that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.
The Anticorruption Prosecution Office is conducting the criminal investigation.
